Billy scrunched up his face a bit in confusion, an almost-scowl as he tried to remember times she had flirted with him. She had always been nice to him, except when she had pulled that knife, but he didn't think she had been flirting. At least not real flirting because she was interested in him. Of course, he hadn't been single then so maybe he just wasn't paying attention?

"I just thought you were being nice?" he said, as if that was any kind of defense. "I just thought maybe you were friendly with everyone and it wasn't anything about me. Man, I would have been a lot less terrified to ask you out if I knew that."
