Only not if he continued to live on the meager rations he had for food. He didn't think that poor nutrition would really stunt his growth, that was just the sort of crap they told you in school or at the home to get you to eat your vegetables, but it probably didn't help.
Watching her dog, Billy thought it was kind of weird that she was speaking to the dog in some other language. Not that the dog would understand English any better than whatever language Alex was talking to it in, it just seemed kind of weird.
