Billy didn't believe her. He didn't really have any reason to think that she was lying but no reason to believe her either. At least he knew better than to assume that just because she didn't look like she didn't rob thrift stores now she hadn't in the past. Still didn't mean she knew anything about him.

If she hadn't called the cops on him now she probably wasn't going to, so Billy went back to putting on his new shoes while keeping an eye on her.
